Mini Ecosystem
Research and plan your desired ecosystem.
Make a master list of what is needed, both living and nonliving (what
interactions will take place). You will
then build your ecosystem out of materials/supplies provided by you. It
should be self-sustaining, think of the niche of each animal and how you will
meet those needs. Make sure you can
answer the following questions.
Option 1 is to include plants and animals
Option 2 is to not include animals
·
What were the living things in your environment?
·
What were the non-living things?
·
Describe the changes that occurred in your environment during your period of
observations?
·
How does your small scale environment compare to a larger environment?
·
What question could you ask about interactions between living and nonliving
things in the environment that could be investigated by observation?
·
Did you end up with a balanced environment?
·
Ask students to write a paragraph describing the interaction of organisms within
an ecosystem.
